Role Description

Role Purpose

The Trainee QC (Quality Control) role is designed for fresh graduates entering the print and digital services industry. The position provides structured training in quality assurance practices, ensuring that all outputs meet company standards for accuracy, consistency, and compliance. The trainee will gradually progress from observation and assisted tasks to independent QC responsibilities.

Career Pathway

Successful completion of the trainee phase prepares the individual for advancement into a Junior QC Analyst role, with increased responsibility for independent QC checks, client-facing reporting, and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Learning & Orientation

  • Participate in structured training sessions on QC standards, workflows, and industry compliance.
  • Shadow senior QC staff to understand processes for both print and digital outputs.

Quality Control Support

  • Assist in reviewing print materials for colour accuracy, alignment, resolution, and finishing.
  • Support digital QC checks, including layout validation, font consistency, link functionality, and responsiveness across devices.
  • Apply QC checklists and tools under supervision.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Record QC findings in logs, spreadsheets, or dashboards.
  • Maintain version control and track corrections.
  • Escalate issues to senior QC staff following established protocols.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with design, production, and digital teams to understand workflows.
  • Communicate QC findings clearly and professionally.

Learning Outcomes (First Phase)

  • Develop a strong foundation in print and digital QC processes.
  • Gain familiarity with QC tools/software (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, browser simulators).
  • Understand industry standards such as ISO colour management and digital accessibility guidelines.
  • Build confidence in identifying and reporting common errors.

Performance Expectations

  • Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail in supervised QC tasks.
  • Show eagerness to learn and adapt to both print and digital environments.
  • Exhibit curiosity by asking questions and seeking feedback.
  • Progress from shadowing to independent handling of small QC tasks within 3 months.
